This is the first samba book dedicated exclusively to breaks created by the samba schools’ baterias. Mestre Maurão was a director at Viradouro (where he was champion), at Acadêmicos da Rocinha and Cubango. In these three samba schools he imprinted his style of cohesive rhythm combined with bold and creative breaks. The book transcribes into musical notation 7 of these breaks and a beautiful bateria’s esquenta (a break that is not created for a song) inspired by a song by Michael Jackson.
